The Apocalypse: In the Teachings of Ancient Christianity

December 18th, 2008 by Fr. Vasile

To follow up on our discussion about the end of days here is an interesting book that looks at the book of Revelations from an Orthodox perspective.

This verse by verse commentary a translation of an Russian original by Seraphim Rose is a  based on the commentary by St. Andrew of Caesarea.

Many recent books have dealt with the subject of the Apocalypse (Revelation) of St. John the Apostle most of them based on fallible human speculation rather than on the revealed wisdom of the Ancient Church. Archbishop Averky a modern Holy Father takes us verse by verse through the mystical writings of St. John interpreting each passage with the help of Scripture parallels and commentaries by God-illumined teachers. The book includes extensive notes and introductory material by Fr. Seraphim Rose.
